The Video:

Chicago rapper Montana of 300 is set to release a collaborative album, Gunz N Roses, with Illinois rapper/singer Talley of 300. Debuted by Complex, their new singleMF’s Mad,” is a bouncy production led by a playful synth and light piano notes. Talley flaunts about Polos and Jordans, even embracing their insignificance as he croons out a chorus that glamorizes carefree spending, while Montana boasts about an inability to lack before seemingly killing all speculation of a label deal in the works with a metaphor-driven verse that declares “I gotta excel, racial profilin’ from 12/ bonded right outta that jail, got bars like a cell/ Rap God I’m not up for sale, my lyrics hotter than hell.” “MF’s Mad” is the latest release from the duo’s forthcoming album, following video singles “Gas Mask,” “Nothing New,” and “You Know,” which have combined for more than two million views.

Maybe best known for his sleeper hit “Ice Cream Truck” and an on-going series of fire-breathing remixes, Montana of 300 took on one of his first acting roles earlier this year appearing in the first two episodes of Empire this season, taking part in a prison cipher scene alongside Terrence Howard. It was during the filming earlier this summer where he met Chris Rock, who introduced him to Rick Rubin, later making headlines when photos of a session at Rick’s home studio leaked. In October, Montana of 300’s single “Slaughterhouse” – which released nearly a year prior on his Cursed With A Blessing album and got a boost from a newly released video – landed at #18 on Billboard’s Emerging Artists Chart.

Montana of 300 has been building strong momentum, dropping original hits like “Holy Ghost,” “Ice Cream Truck,” and “All I Ever Wanted,” along with an impressive string of remixes, including Dej Loaf‘sTry Me,” Fetty Wap‘s Trap Queen,” OT GenasisCoco,” and Nicki Minaj‘s Chiraq, which have each accumulated millions of YouTube views. “He’s closer to someone like Kevin Gates or Durk than say [Chief] Keef,” said Passion of the Weiss in a feature spotlighting Montana of 300 earlier this year. “At heart, he is a rapping-ass rapper, snapping at cyphers and shilling mixtapes since 10th grade. The sober son of a Vice Lord and a former crack addict, there’s a mixture of pain and aggression in most bars. You might mistake this for simplistic street shit, but there’s the sort of hunger and ferocity found in almost every great rapper that ever really started from the bottom.”

Montana of 300 x Talley of 300’s Gunz N Roses album is slated to release December 2nd, and Montana of 300’s debut solo album, Fire In the Church, is set to release in 2016.

Montana of 300 Background:

Montana of 300 is an independent rapper from the South side of Chicago. Wearing a bandana underneath his rope like/twisted dreads and covered in tattoos, Montana’s YouTube presence has blown up, with his remixes of Dej Loaf’s “Try Me” racking in almost 8 million views and “Chiraq” clocking 7 million views, to name a few. Often referred to as “Rap God,” Montana of 300 got his start back in 2008 when he named himself after the movie 300, adopting the movie’s underlying motif “No surrender, no retreat” as his own anthem. Known for his back-to-back flurries of mind-blowing metaphors, unforgettable quotes, inspirational stories of struggle and his aggression, Montana’s music is spreading fast, keeping the people talking and running to tell the next. Being versatile and dropping hits like “Holy Ghost,” “Ice Cream Truck,” and “All I Ever Wanted,” he shows us that he’s way more than just another Chicago rapper. He never fails to crush all the competition and his fans go nuts every time. Montana of 300 has been turning down record deals, saying he’s comfortable with how he’s doing while planning on staying independent.
