The Video:

Few rappers can match the intensity of Chicago’s Montana Of 300, who returns today with “Land Of The Dark,” the first video single from his forthcoming full-length Fire in the Church. Debuted by Noisey with an extensive interview, “Land Of The Dark” captivates through the sheer force of Montana’s charisma, expertly balancing his breathless rhymes with melodic auto-tuned hooks. The sinister, minimalist video finds Montana Of 300 emphatically delivering his rhymes backed by masked men, the accents of red evoking the bloody aftermath of violence in his hometown. “Fire in the Church is basically the bad within the good,” Montana Of 300 explains to Noisey. “No sugar coating, the good within the bad, and it also kind of represents my following and how I built my fanbase, was just word of mouth. If it’s a fire in the church, somebody’s running out of the church saying, ‘it’s a fire in the church!’ People that hear me, is like, you gotta listen to this dude. It’s something urgent in that extreme.”

Montana Of 300 is gearing up for the release of his Fire in the Church album, the follow-up to 2014’s break-through project Cursed With a Blessing. “Land Of The Dark” continues Montana Of 300’s active 2016, which has already seen the rapper headline a tour in January, nab a feature in HotNewHipHop‘s artist spotlight series On The Come Up, and freestyle over industry hits in his “White Iverson/Milly Rock” remix video. In a recent interview with Fuse‘s FM TV, Montana detailed his experience meeting with Kanye West and Rick Rubin, telling fans to “expect the unexpected.”

“I’m planning to see a million dollars this year,” Montana adds in the Noisey interview. “I just want to make this year the best year of my life, man. You know. And you know, just inspire people. I talk to God a lot, you know. He doesn’t talk back, but I’m saying, I talk to him, I pray a lot, that’s what I mean. And I don’t really ask for much. A lot of the times when I talk to him I’m mostly just telling him thank you. Like I even find myself sometimes even thanking him for the brain that I have, how my brain works, you know. I really feel like I got a weapon that nobody else has.” Having already accumulated more than 100 million YouTube views, Montana Of 300 is positioned to turn his viral success to commercial acclaim as his Fire In The Church album is set to release May 6th.

Montana of 300 Background:

Montana of 300 is an independent rapper from the South side of Chicago. Wearing a bandana underneath his rope like/twisted dreads and covered in tattoos, Montana’s YouTube presence has blown up, with his remixes of Dej Loaf’s “Try Me” racking in almost 8 million views and “Chiraq” clocking 7 million views, to name a few. Often referred to as “Rap God,” Montana of 300 got his start back in 2008 when he named himself after the movie 300, adopting the movie’s underlying motif “No surrender, no retreat” as his own anthem. Known for his back-to-back flurries of mind-blowing metaphors, unforgettable quotes, inspirational stories of struggle and his aggression, Montana’s music is spreading fast, keeping the people talking and running to tell the next. Being versatile and dropping hits like “Holy Ghost,” “Ice Cream Truck,” and “All I Ever Wanted,” he shows us that he’s way more than just another Chicago rapper. He never fails to crush all the competition and his fans go nuts every time. Montana of 300 has been turning down record deals, saying he’s comfortable with how he’s doing while planning on staying independent. His upcoming album, Fire In The Church, releases May 6th.
