We’re only a few weeks away from Halloween, but the latest single from Kilz can’t wait. “This haunting track fits right into the mix of the dark, gloomy weathers that’s superseded summer,” says Lunch N Leftovers in their premiere of the track. “Voices” features fellow southwest PA rappers Beamer, Lil Jim, and Yung Ish, as Kilz harmonizes on the chorus, “police riding ’round all crazy got me ‘noided/ I done did so much dirt, don’t think I can avoid it.” “Voices” is the fourth release from the producer/rapper’s debut mixtape, Krak Kilz, which releases tomorrow.
Kilz has presented a diverse range of singles leading up to the release of his debut mixtape. From hometown anthems to hardcore trap music, Kilz is certainly backing up his assertions that he is a versatile artist. “Voices” follows the release of last week’s single, “Robes & Slippers.” The track features Moola Gang Ca$h Cow$ compadres, Luke-O and Pyrex Pre$$, and premiered via MissCaseyCarter who described the music as “trap-luxurious.” The first two singles from the mixtape provide a strong contrast to the latter two as “Have Some Fun” features The Come Up of Mac Miller’s REMember Music, and echoes the excitement of partying, while “FayCo” delivers an anthem for Fayette County.
The Fayette County collective, MGCC, have been busy this summer/fall. Kilz’s Krak Kilz mixtape follows Luke-O’s Lacoste Bo$$ mixtape, which was premiered by AllHipHop in September. Kilz’s project is long overdue, as he’s been establishing himself in the surrounding Pittsburgh area for quite some time. “I’ve been promoting this project for years now, but I’ve always been behind the scenes,” he explains in an interview with HipHopDX. “I’m excited for the people to hear the versatility, from smooth tracks to boom bap, from club to trap shit.”
