A visceral and enthralling rap storyteller, Maxo Kream spent 2018 making the case that he’s Houston’s best emcee. Directly addressing a close friend serving a lengthy sentence in prison, Maxo shares “Meet Again,” a soulful and introspective new single. Foregoing the dark and futuristic production for which he’s known, “Meet Again” has a bright and nostalgic instrumental, reminiscent of fellow Houstonian Scarface’s work with Kanye West, providing a sentimental backdrop for Maxo’s reflective second-person bars,: “I dropped 40 on a lawyer, tryna reduce your sentence/He better than that court-appointed, he gon’ fight to appeal it/But you better stop trippin’, I heard they caught you with a phone/And they threw you in the hole, you prob’ly wonderin’ how I know.” Produced by Teej and Mike Dean, “Meet Again” is Maxo’s first new single since the release of Punken, Maxo’s critically acclaimed new album, and is his latest video since the creative clip for “Roaches” (2.6 million YouTube views).
