Critical Praise for MAHD:

“…equipped with a rapid fire flow and a sharp delivery.” – DJBooth

“The up-and-coming Motor City MC makes a city known for it’s blight beam bright.” – The Smoking Section

“Like the city he hails from, MAHD’s work represents stark contrasts: grit and beauty, aggression and vulnerability.” – NYLON Magazine

The Song:

“Detroiters are lucky to be witnessing an emcee coming into his prime,” said the Detroit Metro Times of MAHD‘s album 13, which released earlier this month. Keeping his momentum going, the Rock City emcee teams up with fellow Detroit rapper Guilty Simpson for a loose single, “G.M.W.A.M.N.” The track premiered via Nah Right, who deemed it a “tough new joint from rising Detroit talent.”

MAHD and Guilty have no shortage of bars as they weave brusque rhymes through the shrieking strings and hollowed out vocal samples in the beat. “I initially met Guilty a long time ago just being around the Detroit music scene,” explained MAHD, adding, “Guilty is someone I’ve been listening to for years, he killed it and delivered some grown man rap like always.” With MAHD consistently proving himself to be one of Detroit’s most innovative voices, his 13 album received praise from the likes of HotNewHipHop, 2DopeBoyz, andAllHipHop. He followed the album release with an emotional visual for his single “Got Damn,” with2DopeBoyz noting that MAHD “showcases his lyrical prowess and storytelling talents as he shares a relatable tale of love and heartbreak.”

MAHD is all about staying true to his art-focusing on sharp lyrics and delivery, taking hip-hop back to its core. “I developed this belief after looking around and seeing people complacent with lives that I couldn’t picture myself living forever. I feel I have a purpose on this earth that can bring change through my words so that’s what I’m doing.” MAHD will be joining Black Milk‘s forthcoming Play Like Hell tour for the NYC, Philly, and D.C. dates.
