Video: Lil Durk – “Nobody Knows”
The Drill Rap Pioneer Shares Emotional Visual for the Closing Track from Supa Vultures, His Collaborative Effort with Lil Reese
“Unshackled from any kind of outline, Durk’s pen game shines. His rise was dotted with blood-soaked tales that summarized much of drill’s appeal: ground-level glimpses at Chicago’s South Side that colored in the outline offered by grim murder statistics.” – Pitchfork
With tens of millions of Spotify streams and YouTube views and two Billboard charting albums, Lil Durk is one of Chicago’s brightest young stars. Showcasing an unseen side of himself, Durk shares the revealing video for “Nobody Knows,” premiered by Karen Civil. An emotional and infectious drill power ballad, “Nobody Knows” is a startlingly honest picture of Durk’s life in 2017. The video finds footage of Durk on tour, rapping backstage and in his sprinter, intercut with touching clips of Durk spending treasured time with his daughter. Produced by Chopsquad DJ, “Nobody Knows” is the closer and emotional climax of Supa Vultures, Lil Durk’s collaborative EP with fellow drill music pioneer Lil Reese. Debuted by Noisey and distributed by EMPIRE, Supa Vultures demonstrates the continued relevance of Chicago street rap, with highlights like the hit street single “Distance,” recently featured in Complex’s Bout To Blow column, the paranoid-yet-triumphant “Unstoppable,” the sidewinding and menacing “Fuck Dat Shit.”
“The ups and downs of my life inspired the creation of this song… things people wouldn’t realize that I deal with – that’s why the record is title ‘Nobody Knows,'” Lil Durk explained to Karen Civil. “The song is actually dedicated to one of my close friends I lost this past summer, it’s a snippet of him actually on the song. I made this song with a heavy heart.”
Since moving to Atlanta from Chicago, Lil Durk has been quietly dominating the Hip-Hop landscape, collaborating with countless artists both established and on the come-up. Lil Durk most recently linked with Quavo & Lil Yachty for “Homie Bitch.” The OTF (Only The Family) spitter also made appearances on Young Thug’s EBBTG, Trae Tha Truth‘s Tha Truth 3, and Ralo x Gucci Mane‘s Ralo LaFlare. Durk’s February project Love Songs For the Streets featured YFN Lucci and Young Thug, as the 24-year-old honed a matured sound. With Supa Vultures, Durk returns to his roots with a motivated Lil Reese, making a compelling demonstration of the two rappers’ towering stature in the Chicago rap scene. “We [Vultures] don’t eat each other,” explains Lil Durk. “We eat other people and keep everything in the family. If you’re with us we call you a vulture and you’re our brother.” Supa Vultures EP is currently available to stream and purchase.

EMPIRE was founded in 2010 as an artist-friendly, progressive digital distribution company. After early success, and identifying future icons such as Kendrick Lamar, Sage The Gemini, and Rich Homie Quan, EMPIRE was quickly regarded as a tastemaker in the industry and throughout the past five years evolved into a full-fledged record label, distributor and publisher for independent musicians. With the company and roster growing at a breakneck pace, EMPIRE has effectively disrupted a stale business model by bringing its energy, expertise, and acumen to its artists and labels.
