Video: Krizz Kaliko – “Stop the World”
The Rapper Turned Pop/RnB Singer Shares his Emotionally Charged Video About Suicide via VIBE

The Video:
Today, Krizz Kaliko, known mostly as a rapper for his lyrical integrity, shares a darker side with the powerful pop/RnB ballad “Stop the World,” which chronicles his struggles with depression and suicide. Debuted by VIBE, the video has Krizz reflecting on life’s hardships, while showing that ultimately, nobody is really alone in their battles. The audio of “Stop the World” premiered via Billboard earlier this month, and showcases the Strange Music artist at his most vulnerable. The single is from Krizz Kaliko’s forthcoming album, Go, which he is releasing on April 8th and highlights his versatile musicianship and honest storytelling.
“In 2015 there were several days where I contemplated suicide. The world felt like a big ride that I wanted to get off of,” Krizz Kaliko explains. “Life was not fun to me anymore. My marriage was troubled, I didn’t know where my career was going, my mental health was greatly affecting me at the time. I had decided to go and check into a mental institution to see if there was a way to ease the pain. A lot of my fans go through these same things – it’s why my music helps them, keeps them from hurting themselves, and sometimes, it saves their lives. I think we’ve all had these thoughts at one time or another. Music imitates life. The hook, ‘Stop the world and let me off,’ paints the picture.”
Gearing up for Go, Krizz Kaliko previously released his “Behave” single via Complex. Born with vitiligo, a skin condition that turns parts of your skin white, Krizz was teased incessantly but knew he had a special gift of creating music. Adopting the name for the spotted and parti-colored cat known as the Calico, Krizz Kaliko embraced what made him different and started the journey that would save his life: he started making music. His sixth studio album, Go, serves as Krizz’ first ever Pop/RnB project and is slated to release on April 8th via Strange Music.
