Album: Eric Bellinger – Term 2 Acoustic
The Grammy-Winning Singer-Songwriter Unplugs and Transforms Songs From March’s Eric B. For President: Term 2
Critical Praise for Eric Bellinger:
“Sharing the genetic pool with his grandfather, Bobby Day – R&B singer, and songwriter for groups like the Jackson 5 – Eric is R&B’s most gifted songwriter.” – The Lunch Table
“Eric Bellinger is an up-and-coming R&B singer who has tons of talent and could make some waves very soon.” – Complex
“Eric Bellinger—the Los Angeles singer/songwriter whose single with Problem, “I Don’t Want Her,” made waves last year—fits somewhere between Ty Dolla $ign’s of-the-moment snap and Ne-Yo’s oh-so-earnest mid-’00s R&B.” – FADER
“If you’re single or trying to find signs of love in the world, Eric Bellinger will make you believe in love again.” – Singersroom
With an intense focus on lyricism, structure, and layered vocal harmonies, Eric Bellinger is one of the best pure songwriters in the world of R&B. Unplugging the electronic instrumentation from March’s Eric B. For President: Term 2, Eric showcases his songcraft on Term 2 Acoustic, a new project that re-imagines and rearranges the songs on the original EP with only acoustic instruments. Though some tracks, such as the bossa nova-inflected, Wale-featuring “Treat Yourself,” lend themselves to easy acoustic interpretation, Eric does justice to even the most beat-driven tracks on the original EP. Eric transforms the moody and atmospheric “Know/Vibes” into a lilting ballad, and slows down the dancehall-flavored “Make You Mine,” into a minor-key acoustic stomp. Premiered by ThisIsRnB and featuring appearances from Wale, ELHAE, and Tayla Parx, who guests on the Earmilk-premiered “Island,” Term 2 Acoustic is an intimate and rewarding listen, re-establishing Eric Bellinger as one of the most talented voices and pens in R&B.
“I love acoustic versions because guitar is such a simple, yet potent, instrument,” explains Eric Bellinger. “The feeling from those strings alone brings so much organic raw emotion to the music. Stripping down all the instruments and allowing the listener to focus in on lyrics, melodies, harmonies, ad-libs, and my intricately detailed vocal arrangements is important to me. With everything being so trapped-out nowadays I just wanted to give the people another alternative. Something different, something soulful, something they could feel.”
A former Division I football recruit and a Grammy-winning songwriter, Eric Bellinger is one of the hardest working men in show business. Continuously and tirelessly working on new music, Eric’s Term 2 Acoustic is his third EP of the year, following the original version of Term 2 and the hazy, 4/20-released Cannabliss. Eric Bellinger also keeps busy by releasing weekly E-Mixes, which are his R&B interpretations of pop and rap songs like SZA‘s “Love Galore,” Drake’s “Fake Love,” Rae Sremmurd’s“Black Beatles” and DJ Snake and Justin Bieber’s “Let Me Love You.” Last month, Eric released “Be The Change,” a Nelson Mandela-quoting response to the violence in Charlottesville in August, proving that he is not one to stand down from political issues when times get tough. Look for more music from Eric Bellinger on the way soon.

Eric Bellinger Background:
Over the last 6 years, Eric Bellinger has become one of the music industry’s most sought after songwriters while also proving himself to be equally talented as a singer and a rapper. Seamlessly fusing smooth and retro R&B melodies with edgy hip-hop, Bellinger, the grandson of “Rockin Robin” songwriter Bobby Day, has earned the reputation as quick yet intuitive songwriter. Having collaborated with Grammy-winning songwriter/producers J.R. Rotem and Rodney Jerkins, the Compton, California native has quickly racked up more than 80 song placements just in the last two years alone, writing for Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Usher, Trey Songz, Jennifer Hudson, The Game, and Janelle Monae. He has scored hits with his songwriting for Justin Bieber (“Right Here,”) Usher (“Lemme See,”) and Chris Brown (“Fine China.”) His work with Brown, specifically his contributions to Brown’s album F.A.M.E., also earned him a Grammy award. Following 10 years of being in singing groups, the former church boy singer formally stepped out as a solo artist in 2013, steadily churning out a series of well-regarded mixtapes. Working with artists including 2 Chainz, Kid Ink, Mya, Ty Dolla $ign, and Sage the Gemini, Bellinger quickly found success as a solo artist, selling out his U.K. tour, getting his independent label YFS distributed by Lyor Cohen’s 300 Entertainment, and amassing over 10 million views on YouTube. Bellinger has come full circle as a triple-threat talent, simultaneously forging a burgeoning solo career while further cementing his reputation as one of R&B and pop music’s top go-to writers.
