The News/Song:

Today, Funk Volume is proud to announce the next release from Las Vegas-based rapper Dizzy Wright. Entitled State of Mind, the EP project will be available for purchase on April 15th. Today, Dizzy Wright shares the first leak from the album, “Everywhere I Go” and will be making a video for the track due out later in April. Along with the EP, Dizzy will soon embark on an accompanying national tour aptly titled “The State of Mind Tour.”

Sin City’s Dizzy Wright was born to rap. His uncle is Layzie Bone who is part of the seminal group Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, his mom was an avid concert promoter taking him to shows when he was just a kid, and at 8 years old Dizzy had is first rap act “DaFuture.” Fast forward to 2014 and Dizzy has become one of hip-hop’s brightest young stars who has shunned the majors and carved his own independent path. He released his first studio album Smokeout Conversations in 2012. He followed that with The First Agreement in December of that year, and then a mixtape The Golden Age in August 2013. All three projects charted in the top 50 of the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and last year XXL put him on their 2013 Freshman cover.

In his track, “Everywhere I Go,” Dizzy smoothly delivers his verses over hard-cutting saw synths and sharp claps. His flow from The Golden Age returns, but his delivery has  become more powerful, showing his growth since joining the XXL 2013 Freshman Class. For his fourth project he’s releasing something that both highlights his diverse style and sound while further establishing Dizzy as the future of hip hop.

Says Dizzy about the EP, “This new album is a real quality project, I’m putting my best foot forward with it. I took my time to create it and the music is energetic and fun. I made it with the intent of having people come out to see me perform the songs live.”

Dizzy Wright Background:

Not many 21-year old rappers can say that they’ve been rapping for over a decade. Las Vegas, Nevada, Rapper Dizzy Wright began rapping at just 8 years old, in the group “DaFuture” with his brother and very close friend; his mother wrote his raps at the time. Dizzy broke through when he was discovered at the Sheikh Music “Rip the Mic” competition in 2010 and signed onto Funk Volume a few months later. In April 2012, Dizzy released his first Funk Volume album, SmokeOut Conversations, peaking at #2 on the iTunes Hip-Hop charts. He followed it up with a free mixtape, Free SmokeOut Conversations, which has been downloaded over 200,000 times, and helped propel Dizzy to his own national 30-city tour. In December 2012, Dizzy went on to release the first of four EPs, The First Agreement, which reached as high as #2 on the iTunes Hip-Hop chart. In March of 2013, Dizzy gathered enough votes to be selected as the “People’s Choice” member of the XXL Freshman Class of 2013. Also in 2013, Dizzy released The Golden Age mixtape and followed it up with The Golden Age Tour.
