The Song:

Over shimmering synths and thunderous 808s, Dizzy Wright appears more confident than ever on “Why You Do Me Like That,” the latest single from his 702 EP. One of the most distinguished rappers to come out of Las Vegas, the Sin City rapper stresses his loyalty to those around him, addressing the “zoo” of the music industry and people who have turned their back on him. With an almost effortless flow, Dizzy raps, “The whole world can’t be trusted / Since FV gone I’m adjusted.” Dizzy is joined by Omaha, Nebraska rapper Skate Maloley on the Alex Lustig produced track. Dizzy explains, “I made “Why You Do Me Like That” for the fans, just to remind them that we see everything, we’re aware that people will pick you up to tear you down when you get bigger then they expected. So we’re here to go against all odds and play with the fans and pretty much make a army out of them. That’s why I made it.”

Attesting to Dizzy’s tireless work ethic, the 702 EP is Dizzy’s second EP of 2016 and demonstrates an equally pensive but more forbidding tone than Dizzy’s previous releases. The follow up to his “Wisdom and Good Vibes EP,” the 702 EP features production from the likes of Alex Lustig, LarryMakingAllTheHits, FreezeOnTheBeat and Louie Haze. Dizzy iterates that timing was key to this release, saying “It’s summer time and people want to smile and have fun and I want them to be able to listen to me in clubs, basketballs games, any and every kind of event. I just wanted to make sure I made a tape that my fans could just throw in and let play from start to finish.” This track follows last week’s release of the visual for the more lighthearted track “What’s In My Pot?” Previously, Dizzy Wright released the video for “East Side,” in which Dizzy tours Las Vegas’ East Side on his bike and parties in his home. “Why You Do Me Like That,” “East Side,” and “What’s In My Pot?” are available as gratis downloads when pre-ordering the whole EP. The EP is also available for pre-order on physical form at Dizzy Wright’s official site. On July 1st, Dizzy Wright will host an album release party in Las Vegas at the streetwear store Institution starting at… (wait for it…) 7:02pm.

Dizzy Wright Background:

Las Vegas, Nevada, Rapper Dizzy Wright began rapping at just 8 years old in the group “DaFuture” with his brother and very close friend; his mother wrote his raps at the time. Dizzy broke through when he was discovered at the Sheikh Music “Rip the Mic” competition in 2010 and signed onto Funk Volume a few months later. In April 2012, Dizzy released his first Funk Volume album, SmokeOut Conversations, peaking at #2 on the iTunes Hip-Hop charts which he followed up with a free mixtape, Free SmokeOut Conversations, which has been downloaded over 200,000 times, and helped propel Dizzy to his own national 30-city tour. In December 2012, Dizzy went on to release the first of four EPs, The First Agreement, which reached as high as #2 on the iTunes Hip-Hop chart. In March of 2013, Dizzy gathered enough votes to be selected as the “People’s Choice” member of the XXL Freshman Class of 2013. Also in 2013, Dizzy released The Golden Age mixtape and followed it up with The Golden Age Tour. In 2014, Dizzy released the State of Mind EP and toured the US  with support from Scion AV. Following the momentum, in 2015 he hit the road in support of his sophomore album The Growing Process, which peaked at #3 on iTunes. When 2016 hit, Funk Volume disbanded. No signs of slowing down, Dizzy dropped his Wisdom and Good Vibes EP and opened for Logic’s sold out The Incredible World Tour, while prepping his second release this year, the 702 EP.
