Video: Demrick – “Freak Show”

Fresh Off World Tour With Logic and Dizzy Wright, the California Emcee Stunts in Visual Debuted by VIBE

The Video:

Roaming around sunny Hollywood hills with beautiful women, weed, and weather is just part of another typical day in rapper Demrick‘s life. In his latest “Freak Show” visual, the quirky California emcee takes us through his lifestyle in part one of a three-part video series, leading up to the release of his Collect Call album, slated to release June 24th via 10 Stripe Records. “Freak Show,” premiered by VIBE and produced by Scoop DeVille, is a feel-good record for the summer days on the coast. “Whenever me and Scoop get in studio together we just try to have fun with it,” Demrick says. “Scoop is a super west coast guy, so his energy embodies the sunshine, fun, women, and overall lifestyle LA entails. On this record, I just felt like talking about what I see on a daily basis out here in LA, and giving the people something they can vibe to.”

Demrick’s forthcoming Collect Call project features production from West Coast hitmaker Scoop DeVille (Kendrick Lamar‘s “The Recipe” & “Poetic Justice,” Snoop Dogg‘s “I Wanna Rock”) as well as guest appearances from Casey Veggies and Lil Debbie. “The project is my most vulnerable work to date,” Demrick says. “I really represent the theory that ‘anything is possible… This is my best and most honest work to date.”

Born in Spokane to a single mother on welfare, the biracial Demrick found peace in Hip-Hop. After forming the Tangled Thoughts rap collective in high school, “Young De” linked up with Kurupt for several collaborations. Eventually, Demrick found his way into the studio with B-Real of Cypress Hill, earning several features on B-Real’s debut Smoke ‘N Mirrors. ““I was going to B’s studio for about six months and he never even knew I rapped,” Dem’ recalls. “One day I got the chance to actually rap for him, and he was really impressed by me.” In 2013, Demrick teamed up with B-Real and Xzibit to form the Serial Killers, releasing two projects and gracing the stages of Rock The Bells and Lollapalooza. In 2015, Demrick released his first solo album, Losing Focus, on Madchild’s Battle Axe Records, produced entirely by Cali Cleve and featuring contributions from Logic, Dizzy Wright and others. Collect Call officially releases on June 24th.
