Single: Cookie Money – “Plug Talk” ft. E-40

A Young OG With the Respect of the Streets, Cookie Money Recruits The Counselor for a Mass Appeal-Premiered Jam

The Single:

With an affectless drawl and slickly threatening lyricism, Cookie Money does not have to speak loud to command respect. Flexing his skills over a production from Andrew Smars, Cookie Money treats us to some “Plug Talk” in his latest single. After an engaging verse from Cookie about living large since he made it out the hood, Cookie invites E-40 to the track for an elastic, energetic, and bodacious verse. “E-40 and I knew each other, just from the history of the Bay. We recently started seeing each other at Warriors games,” Cookie Money explains. “I was skeptical at first to even ask for music from him, until one day he called and said, ‘send something.’ ‘Plug Talk’ was done in 20 minutes!”

Premiered by Mass Appeal, “Plug Talk” is the latest single from Cookie World 2.5, Cookie Money’s upcoming mixtape, following Doughboy Pt. 3,” a sinister, stuttering street anthem premiered by ELEVATOR. Featuring appearances from Philthy Rich and Young Dolph, who appears on “Can’t Stop Now,” which has nearly 300,000 views on YouTube, plus production from Zaytoven and others, Cookie World 2.5 releases on October 27th, via EMPIRE.

A well-respected figure in East Oakland, Cookie Money has connections to every rapper in the Bay Area scene. Cookie Money fell into the street life from a young age, providing for his family after his father was sentenced to more than a decade in prison. Early on in his life on the streets, Cookie lost Anthony Butler, his best friend, to gun violence–the first of many senseless deaths that came to shape his worldview. Cookie Money started rapping at the suggestion of DJ Mustard, who gave Cookie several of his beats and booked him 90 days in the studio for him to learn how to rap. Since that fateful meeting with DJ Mustard, Cookie has worked with the likes of YG, E-40, Young Dolph, Boosie Badazz, Icewear Vezzo, and many others. Specializing in honest and detailed street tales, Cookie Money fully fleshes out the world of a hustler made good.
