News:

The Cool Kids member Chuck Inglish has come a long way from his formative days in Chicago to the sun drenched shores of Santa Monica, California, where he now prepares to release an album with a title dedicated to his favorite type of automobile, Convertibles. Chuck is proud to announce the formation of a new partnership between his own Sounds Like Fun platform and Dave Sitek’s Federal Prism label (TV on the Radio, Kelis, Oh Land, Scarlett Johannsen) which is distributed by ADA.  Sounds Like Fun will function as a conduit for all his future creative projects, including his solo music, his growing monthly parties in LA, and in the future, music festivals. His upcoming album, Convertibles, will serve as the first official solo album and first full-length project on the label.

Chuck’s decision to make Sounds Like Fun an official venture came at a crucial point in this life. After parting with his old label, moving to California two years ago, and seeing his solo career take off, Chuck feels that he’s at a turning point in his life both as a man and as an artist. “Creating Sounds Like Fun gives me a fresh start to finish what I set out to do in the beginning of my career,” says Chuck. He continues, “Mikey and I had to deal with a lot of bullshit towards the end of our relationship with our old label and we both needed to clear our heads. A lot of people think we broke up or have bad blood but Mikey’s my dude. I’ve always wanted something to call my own, to have my own factory, and Sounds Like Fun is the platform for all my ideas.” The idea and naming of Chuck’s brand came to him while he was tripping with a good friend but after his friend’s unexpected death, the name took on a deeper meaning. “When she passed a few months ago,” Chuck recalls, “I said to myself, ‘Now it’s time.’ Then I met my current manager, Jack Minihan, and everything  just came together.”

Chuck recently released Droptops, a free EP through Sounds Like Fun via Federal Prism but his first official retail project from the imprint will be the full-length album Convertibles. Keeping in theme with breaking new boundaries, this marks the first project in which Chuck plays a majority of the instruments featured on the album. Says Chuck, “I’m working with Mike Eizinger from Incubus, Big Boi, Chromeo. It’s my first time using an executive producer. It’s my orchestration of the past 3 years of my life. I don’t know which way it’s going to go−but I know it’ll be awesome.”

Chuck Inglish Background:

Hailing from Detroit, Michigan, Chuck Inglish has transformed the landscape of modern hip-hop. As a true tastemaker, Chuck Inglish has transcended music and fashion to become a cultural icon of a generation. Between 2007 and 2011 The Cool Kids released eight projects and toured worldwide, with appearances on the Rock The Bells tour, NBA 2k8, HBO’s Entourage, and Rolling Stone’s “10 Artists To Watch” list. Presently, after producing for artist’s such as Mac Miller, Rick Ross, Asher Roth, Casey Veggies, and Curren$y, Chuck Inglish is set to release his first solo project in the summer of 2013. Appropriately titled Convertibles, the project is a reflection of Inglish’s move to Los Angeles and his evolution as a solo artist. Released through his newly minted imprint Sounds Like Fun Records (distributed by ADA, a division of Warner Music Group), Convertibles is the next step in an already legendary career.
