The Video:

Long Island teen-aged rapper Chris Miles becomes the paparazzi’s latest rebel in his video for “Psychotic,” a single from his forthcoming Milestones EP. The Nick Monson-produced single, which finds the rapper contemplating the stability of stardom, was shot in the paparazzi capital of the US, Los Angeles. Set in an old-styled mansion and spliced with clips of the 16-year-old aggressively avoiding mass media, Miles illustrates his reluctant acceptance of the life he’s headed towards. Primarily shot with a vintage lens native to movie scenes in insane asylums, the visuals give off a slightly discomforting ambience, further embodying the track’s title. The video for “Psychotic” is preceded by its initial single release last week. “Using his crafty penmanship and impeccable rhyme skills, Miles weighs through the positives and negatives that come along with it,” OnSMASH explained in their coverage of the record.GoodMusicAllDay additionally wrote on the track and Miles, stating, “[Miles’] passion is apparent, and it’s still difficult to grasp that Miles is only 15 years old.”

“Psychotic” is from Miles’ forthcoming Milestones EP, which has yet to be given a release date. As the follow-up to his acclaimed, Complex-premiered Birth Of Cool EP, Milestones is in good company. “All of his hard work is evident in the release of his first EP, Birth of Cool,” AllHipHop raved about the EP, “…With Birth of Cool, Chris Miles makes a strong case for earning the title of New York’s most talented rookie.” Earlier this year, Miles opened for select dates of Iamsu! and Dizzy Wright’s respective tours. At the young age of 10 years old, Miles began to write and record raps in his bedroom that were inspired by his struggles with being bullied in school. Since then, he’s built up his fan base by releasing viral music videos along with two full length, all original mixtapes. “[Miles] proves that he’s got the talent and cajones for this industry,” HotNewHipHop said of the rapper. The emcee, one of the youngest artists to sign a major publishing deal with Warner/Chappell, is known for displaying a level of lyricism beyond his years as he’s been praised by the likes of Mac Miller, 50 Cent, Hit Boy, Tony Yayo, and more.

Miles has been on his nationwide Pop Nation Tour, spanning much of the South and Northeast as he continues through late August hitting the Midwest and West Coast.

Chris Miles Background:

Chris Miles is a 16 year-old rap artist and songwriter from Long Island, New York. At the young age of 10 years old, Miles began to write and record raps in his bedroom that were inspired by his struggles with being bullied in school. After a few years of honing his skills and using rap as a coping method, he decided to start posting videos of himself rapping on YouTube, which is where he was discovered by T3 Music Group. After a few short weeks of working with T3, one of Miles’ videos managed to get posted by World Star Hip Hop where it garnered over 1.3 million views in just three days. This instantly caught the eye of many figures in the industry and Miles was immediately looked at as one of the next big things in music with XXL stating, “Keep your eye on this kid” and FreeOnSmash claiming that he’s “the next thing smoking out of New York.” Over the past two years, T3 and Miles have worked to build a fan base by releasing countless viral and original music videos along with two full length, all original mixtapes. Today, Miles is currently performing shows throughout the tri-state area after the release of his first EP, Birth of Cool.
