The EP:

If Chris Miles has proved anything this year, it’s that talent has no age limit. The 15 year-old MC has impressed everyone from music industry heavyweights like 50 Cent and Mac Miller to legendary producers such as Statik Selektah, with his controlled rapid fire flow and complex rhyme patterns. All of his hard work is evident in the release of his first EP, Birth of Cool. Over nostalgic beats that harken back to the golden age of NY hip-hop, Chris Miles spits about the challenges he faces as one of the youngest people in rap. With Birth of Cool, Chris Miles makes a strong case for earning the title of New York’s most talented rookie.

From the outside, Chris Miles’ journey to success seems to have been overnight. However, there is more to the story than his rumored $1 million publishing deal. On the first song “Faces,” the young MC spits, “My dad was in the hospital for 3 months…mom didn’t work,” effectively setting an autobiographical and deeply personal tone for the rest of the EP. For the past five years, Miles has been studying rap and honing his skills amid family issues, bullying, and hate from doubters who can’t see past his age. On Birth of Cool, the hard work and determination is evident as Miles easily rides beats from hitmakers such as Jake One on “Time.” What ties the entire project together is Chris’ resolve to make every song relatable to his audience, whether they be high school classmates or 30+ year olds who came of age during rap’s golden era.

In the last year, Chris has grown from young lyricist to seasoned songwriter. Not only are his bars sharper, but he’s added a keen sense for melody to his arsenal. As TheSmokingSection states Chris, “displays the type of promise that makes it easy for him to stand out from the rest of the pack.” The Birth of Cool is only the beginning for one of the East Coast’s most promising young voices.

Chris Miles Background:

Chris Miles is a 15 year old rap artist and songwriter from Long Island, New York. At the young age of 10 years old, Miles began to write and record raps in his bedroom that were inspired by his struggles with being bullied in school. After a few years of honing his skills and using rap as a coping method, he decided to start posting videos of himself rapping on YouTube – which is where he was discovered by T3 Music Group. After a few short weeks of working with T3, one of Miles’ videos managed to get posted by World Star Hip Hop where it garnered over 1.3 million views in just three days. This instantly caught the eye of many figures in the industry and Miles was immediately looked at as one of the next big things in music. Over the past two years, T3 and Miles have worked to build a fan base by releasing countless viral and original music videos along with two full length, all original mixtapes. Today, Miles is currently performing shows throughout the tri-state area and releasing the first of many free EP’s – Birth of Cool.
