Video: Chippy Nonstop feat. Kitty – “Bubblegum”

Oakland Party Rapper Chippy Nonstop Releases New Video Featuring Kitty And Twerking Girls

09.23.2013

Critical Praise for Chippy Nonstop:

“Upon first listen, it might be easy to dismiss the internet-obsessed Nanda’s debut offering #GLOBALSCHOOLOFTWERK as frivolous hipster party rap. Upon closer inspection idiosyncracies emerge: seething Hindi rhymes, crunchy dance beats, and a hyphy-inspired energy that help underscore Nanda’s unusual inspirations.” – FLAUNT Magazine

“She’s provocative, demanding of attention, while maintaining the casual-fun style of your old neighborhood crew. You can’t help but follow her bopping head and twerking booty for fear you might blink and miss the next step.” – San Francisco Bay Guardian

“The Oakland-based rapper Chippy Nonstop is incredibly easy to like and a surefire good time, but she’s far more than a pretty party girl with a great Twitter. She has great stamina and an ear for interesting sounds you can also bounce your butt to.”– Interview Magazine

The Video:

Chippy Nonstop was twerking long before the dance went mainstream, and she and her posse prove it in her new video for “Bubblegum,” premiered by PAPER Magazine. The song was produced by Felix Snow, features rapper Kitty and is off of Chippy’s latest EP, #finallyverified. The Jon Casey-directed video shows Chippy, Kitty, and friends having a good time twerking, rapping, and popping their bubblegum. The visual ties in well with the hook that goes, “Feel the bass drop with the drum / We just came here to have some fun.”

Chippy says she and Kitty aimed to make the track lighthearted and playful. “We just wanted to make a fun, cute, young pop song together. Everyone is in a battle to be the most provocative, but we wanted to make a cute, youthful song for everyone to enjoy.” Chippy has also been working with producer Hot Sugar on the track “Drippin’ Dimes” off of his new EP Made Man. The track also features Ne$$ from Weekend Money and Nasty Nigel from World’s Fair.
