MP3: Chippy NonStop Announces New EP For Sept 19 and Releases Single, “Peeka”

Premiered by, the Flirty Track is Perfect for Summertime Partying

Critical Praise for Chippy Nonstop:

“Upon first listen, it might be easy to dismiss the internet-obsessed Nanda’s debut offering #GLOBALSCHOOLOFTWERK as frivolous hipster party rap. Upon closer inspection idiosyncracies emerge: seething Hindi rhymes, crunchy dance beats, and a hyphy-inspired energy that help underscore Nanda’s unusual inspirations.” – FLAUNT Magazine

“She’s provocative, demanding of attention, while maintaining the casual-fun style of your old neighborhood crew. You can’t help but follow her bopping head and twerking booty for fear you might blink and miss the next step.” – San Francisco Bay Guardian

“The Oakland-based rapper Chippy Nonstop is incredibly easy to like and a surefire good time, but she’s far more than a pretty party girl with a great Twitter. She has great stamina and an ear for interesting sounds you can also bounce your butt to.”– Interview Magazine

Chippy Nonstop is well-known for her party vibes and dance music. Last summer she released an EP, #finallyverified, then the delicate, lonely “Alone,” a Felix Snow-produced single showing her soft side. However, her classic electronic, upbeat sound has returned for her newest single, “Peeka,” released today via EntertainmentWeekly and available for download here. With upbeat synths and an electronic beat, classic components of Chippy’s “electro-trap” style are layered beneath airy vocals and a cute, poppy repetition of Nintendo’s Pokemon character, “Pikachu,” to create a catchy party track.  “It’s not necessarily linked directly with Pikachu, it’s a cute word and the euphemism is so kinky and freaky that using a word like ‘Pikachu’ makes it more innocent and coy,” says Chippy about the track’s lyrics. However, she doesn’t define what exactly “Peeka” is a euphemism for, leaving it up to her listeners to decide- “the real ones will know what I mean,” she reveals. “I want my fans to have this song for summertime; it’s the perfect soundtrack for running through sprinklers.” As EW describes it, “The single perfectly sums up both her sound (club rap with an emphasis on regional styles like Bay Area hyphy) and her philosophy (which is YOLO to the extreme).”

Born in Dubai to Indian parents, she grew up in Zambia and was granted Canadian citizenship before settling in Oakland and now Los Angeles. Her personal flair matches that of her music, combining dance, hip-hop, and world sounds to create an individualistic style which granted her opportunities to work with major artists such as Kreayshawn and Major Lazer, as well as Big Baby Ghandi and Main Attrakionz among others.
