L.A. production duo Casper & B. are carving their own lane with a signature brand of genre-bending production. Today, the duo delivers “Moneys,” the latest single from the upcoming Low Battery Summer project, featuring Michael Christmas and Charles Hamilton. “Moneys” finds the two emcees matter-of-factly rapping about lavish lifestyles atop glimmering synths, chopped-up vocal samples, and thunderous bass. Premiered by VIBE, “Moneys” builds up momentum for Casper & B.’s Low Battery Summer, which releases this week. “This track is different from the rest of the project,” explains Casper to VIBE. “It is by far the slowest of all of them, with the half time drum feel. It has a lot of cool quirky sounds and combines influence of LA Beat scene and drum n bass.”
Earlier this month, GoodMusicAllDay premiered “Leave Me Alone,” a maximalist, energetic, and infectious dance track featuring Wes Period and OG Swaggerdick. “Leave Me Alone” followed “New Phone Who Dis,” a LiteFeet party anthem featuring Pell, which The Smoking Section asserted, “will be played in clubs and people will go crazy for it,” as well as CHARGE UP!, a dance mix created for Nest HQ‘s Nest Mix series. Earlier this year, the duo released the Michael Christmas and Marc E. Bassy-assisted single “Work Hard,” which debuted via Pigeons & Planes and has been played over 108,000 times on Soundcloud. Casper & B. are in-demand producers, making tracks for artists such as Michael Christmas, Marc E. Bassy and Skizzy Mars.
Low Battery Summer synthesizes a wide swath of influences, such as hyphy, go-go, New Orleans bounce, Blink 182, and early Kanye West, into a vibrant musical melting pot. “When we decided to create our own album, we actually sat down and started listening to all of our favorite music from our entire life,” they explain. “We didn’t know what our sound was yet, but we knew we wanted it to be fun.” With a desire to make people dance to catchy hooks and upbeat production, boosted by raps and additional vocals by a collection of cutting-edge collaborators, Casper & B. are certain to stand out from the norms of new music.
